Did you know 71% of the world is water? Children are 100% curious.
The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program teaches children ages 4-14 that water should be fun, not feared. In this free program, your children will learn what to do if they find themselves in the water unexpectedly.
Safety Around Water is comprised of eight 30-minute sessions to reduce the risk of drowning by giving children confidence in and around water. The program is geared for unintended entries into the water and safety. They will be taught two benchmark skills: Jump, Push, Turn, Grab and Swim, Float, Swim. They will learn what to do if you see someone in water who needs help. Fun activities will reinforce skills and home safety skills will be handed out to practice together.
Safety Around Water will take place from mid-October through mid-December at the Independent Health Family YMCA, Lockport Family YMCA, and Southtowns Family YMCA.
