Autism movie shows the healing power of Disney

“Life Animated,” the inspirational story of a young man with autism who was unable to speak until he and his family discovered  how to connect by immersing themselves in Disney animated films, will be shown April 28 at North Park Theatre in Buffalo.

The showing is sponsored by the Museum of disABILITY History Film and Speaker Series. There will be one showing at 7 p.m., followed by a short film discussion with a question and answer session.

The movie is described as a heartwarming story about Owen Suskind. The film follows Owen as he graduates to adulthood and takes his first steps toward independence. “Life Animated,” was a 2017 Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary.

The event is co-presented by Autism Services, Inc. of Western New York.

Tickets are $7.50 each and will be available at the North Park Theatre box office on the day of the show.
