On Saturday, October 22, 2016, Autism Services, Inc. and the Autism Society Western New York Chapter are pleased to present “Impact of VISION in Autism & ADHD.” The presenter is Patricia S. Lemer, M.Ed., LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor who practiced as an educational diagnostician for over 40 years. Ms. Lemer was co-founder and Executive Director of Developmental Delay Resources (DDR), a non-profit, for 20 years.
This workshop will explore the difference between VISION and EYESIGHT. Attendees will learn how underlying, often undiagnosed visual processing issues in those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD impact the development of cognition, language, motor skills, social-emotional functioning, academics, and more. Through lecture and demonstration, Ms. Lemer will share activities and programs that can be used at home, in the classroom, and in therapy to maximize potential and improve vision function in individuals of all ages and ability levels. This conference is geared for both parents and professionals.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering ASHA CEU credit for speech-language pathologists and audiologists through the Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Western New York (SHAWNY). We are also offering IACET as well as AOTA CEUs for OTs/COTAs/PTs/PTAs through Learning Partners! Both SHAWNY and Learning Partners are co-sponsors of this workshop.
